Axe to become a local selling Indian Summer Ales

Saturday 2 February 2013

The Axe will at the end of this month become a local, free of tie and be the brewery tap for the Saffron Walden Brewery, Indian Summer on the Ashdon Road Industrial Estate. Greene King are selling this pub to Chris Stringer who is one of the owners of the New World Timber Frame company that also hosts this brewery. This is a refreshing change for Saffron Walden that has lost a large number of pubs which became Coffee Shops, Supermarkets, restaurants or houses. The ownership changes on the 28th February and it is not anticipated that the pub will close though it will be completely refurbished with some of the facilities being closed in stages whilst this happens. The beers currently brewed at Indian Summer which are called Hop and Soul beers are Blonde and Amber with a larger range appearing shortly.
